In June 2015, I joined the faculty of the United States Air Force Academy as an Assistant Professor of English. I currently serve as USAFA’s director of first year composition (FYC), where I develop a program that prepares students to write across the curriculum and throughout their military careers.
I’m particularly excited to be at USAFA because my research interests focus on transfer of literacy learning practices across and beyond the college curriculum. My dissertation research explores how students use literacy practices as rhetorical resources that enable them to negotiate the borders of curricular and extracurricular communities. In this project, I focus specifically on the literacy practices students engage in academic and religious communities.
